SHORT-TERM STAYS WITH STYLE

The Gold Coast’s cosiest boutique motel, The Mysa Motel invites guests to slow down and enjoy the many spoils of the southern Gold Coast with seven comfortably appointed rooms, including one two-bedroom apartment, The Merillo.

Formerly the old manager’s living quarters, The Merillo is a spacious double-storey suite with a kitchen, large bathroom, expansive living and dining room area, and a private courtyard with BBQ facilities and picnic table. It is ideal for guests seeking short-term accommodation in the heart of burgeoning Palm Beach.

Mysa Motel owners, Eliza and Jase said: “When most people think of motels, they think of a quick and easy place for an overnight stop, but we tried to cater to guests who want to stay for a little or stay for a while. The Merillo offers something more substantial for guests looking for that longer holiday, without compromising on aesthetic or access to local attractions.”

The Merillo – like all rooms at the motel – is also equipped with a ‘Mysa Cosy Welcome Pack’, which comprises ‘healthy’ food and beverages sourced from local companies e.g., the Laughing Pug Burleigh.

Mysa’ is Swedish for ‘cosy’ and it sums up the motel’s service priority. Rooms are decked out with practical amenities and features such as blockout blinds, USB charging points, filtered water, Australian Asthma Foundation approved beds, smart TVs, and silent fridges.

The motel’s grounds include an undercover carpark that can be converted into an event space, and the ‘Splash Club, a pool area that is open from 7am until 8pm daily and is available exclusively for motel guests. The Splash Club includes a magnesium pool, vintage pool loungers, picnic table, shade umbrellas, an outdoor shower, and the motel’s famous vintage neon sign.

The Merillo gets its name from the man who taught Jason his tiling craft – which is evident across every touchpoint of the motel, from tiled bedheads to colourful feature tiles in the bathrooms and the captivating mermaid tiles around the pool.

As Eliza and Jase explained, one only needs to look at recent TripAdvisor feedback from guests to appreciate the appeal of The Merillo for a cosy GC launchpad.

With all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay, we felt right at home from the get-go,” said one happy guest.

We visited the Mysa Motel as a young family of four, with a toddler and 4-month-old in tow. I cannot rate this place highly enough! The rooms were beautifully renovated and spacious enough for us and our mountain of things and there was ample space to put our portacot and toddler bed up. Loved the little patio area and the great reclining chair which was perfect for feeding the baby. Pool area was lovely and clean and wet were just a couple of mins walk from the beach. The check-in process was completely contactless and so simple, the amenities were awesome, and the goody bag/free mini bar was a lovely bonus full of locally sourced goodies. We will definitely be back!” gushed another.

“We have started receiving a lot of interest for short-term stays over the summer period, which is the perfect time to visit the Gold Coast. The festive atmosphere transcends the Christmas – New Year period and is complemented by stunning weather and endless activities to keep the whole family entertained,” said Eliza and Jase. “We recommend getting in quickly if you’re looking for a place to bunker down for the summer.”
